A fire in unincorporated Solano County is sending thick smoke into portions of Suisun City and Fairfield, but emergency officials say there is no need to worry.
The blaze is part of a prescribed and training burn taking place along Gordon Valley Road in rural Fairfield, the Fairfield Police Department said in a Nixle alert sent on Tuesday.
The burn is being carried out by the Suisun Fire Protection District and is scheduled to end at 10 p.m., the police department said.
Emergency officials have received dozens of calls about the burn, according to a dispatcher with knowledge of the issue.
There is no public safety threat. Anyone with questions is asked to contact officials with the Suisun Fire Protection District at 707-425-3605.
A supplement prescribed burn is expected to take place on Wednesday in rural Yolo County near the town of Winters, and that fire could send smoke into portions of rural Vacaville and Dixon.
In a social media post, the Winters Fire Department said the evening burn is expected to start along County Road 88 just after 6:30 p.m., with the burn scheduled to last about three hours.
