A police investigation into a report of shots fired resulted in the confiscation of dozens of firearms in Fairfield, the police department said on Tuesday.
The case began on Saturday when officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Buchanan Street after the police department received a report of a dispute that escalated when a homeowner fired a gunshot at a wall.
No one was hurt in the incident, but police said additional information led them to seek a search warrant. Once granted, the warrant helped police turn up more than 120 firearms that were confiscated from the home. Some of the firearms were illegal to possess in California, the agency said.
“Further investigation reveled that an elderly dependent living at the home was being neglected,” the police department said, adding that the agency was tapping into various county resources to assist the elderly resident.
