The Vacaville Police Department has shut down the Fiesta Days event after one person was shot and injured on Sunday.
The incident happened around 7:45 p.m. at Andrews Park along East Monte Vista Avenue.
One person, identified only as an 18-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot injury to the left leg, according to a law enforcement source familiar with the incident.
A suspect, identified as 18-year-old Herman Torres-Bernal of Suisun City, was detained near a beer tent at the event, and police have recovered a firearm.
Police are not treating the incident as an act of terrorism, and the situation was not classified as an active shooter situation. Instead, law enforcement are probing a possible dispute that escalated into a shooting, the source said.
Police worked to contain a chaotic atmosphere immediately after the shooting, with hundreds fleeing the scene after the initial report of shots fired.
Dozens of witnesses are being interviewed by police, and officers ordered the event shut down within a half-hour.
Fiesta Days was scheduled to end on Monday. It is not clear if the event will continue after Sunday’s shooting.
