A body pulled from the water in rural Solano County over the weekend has been conclusively identified as a missing 18-year-old from Winters, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office said on Wednesday.
The body of Eduardo Fierros was identified using DNA analysis by the Butte County Coroner, officials in Solano County said in a press release. The confirmation came less than one day after Solano NewsNet reported officials had tentatively identified the body as belonging to Fierros.
Fierros went declared missing earlier this month following a crash involving a pick-up truck that went into the water along Putah Creek Road near Lake Solano. Emergency personnel rescued another 18-year-old who was in the truck at the time of the crash.
For more than two weeks, law enforcement personnel as well as friends and family of Fierros conducted an extensive search operation for the man.
On Sunday, officials recovered a body from the water not too far away from where the pick-up truck had crashed. Officials called off future search and recovery operations after the body was discovered.
