A late-night rollover crash near Benicia injured one person and led officials to discover a cache of illegal fireworks.
Solano NewsNet was the first to report details of the crash on Monday, which happened along the north-bound lanes of Interstate 680 near Lake Herman Road.
A responding California Highway Patrol officer said the crash involved a pick-up truck that was trying to make an unsafe passing maneuver at a high rate of speed.
The truck flipped over several times before coming to rest just off the freeway. One person was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
As the vehicle flipped, it spilled the contents of the truck all across the roadway, including more than 100 illegal fireworks that were immediately seized by fire officials.
A Benicia Fire Department spokesperson said the fireworks will be safely destroyed.
It was not clear if the driver of the truck faced any charges in connection with the illegal items.
