The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) is warning motorists of two road closures that will affect travel on Interstate 80 through Solano County this week.
The closures are part of a long-term freeway improvement project for the Interstate 80, Interstate 680 and Highway 12 interchange in the Fairfield and Cordelia areas.
CLOSURE 1: East-Bound I-80 at Red Top Road
Affected times:
From Monday, April 5 at 10 p.m. to Tuesday, April 6 at 6 a.m.
From Tuesday, April 6 at 10 p.m. to Wednesday, April 7 at 6 a.m.
What’s happening: Crews will be doing roadwork along the east-bound lanes of Interstate 80, which will result in a closure along those lanes at Red Top Road in Cordelia.
Local Detour: Local traffic will exit at Red Top Road, then take Lopes Road until they reach the next east-bound Interstate 80 on-ramp. Traffic will then be directed back onto the Interstate.
Freeway Detour: Motorists who do not intend to exit along Interstate 80 through Vallejo are asked to exit east-bound Interstate 80 onto west-bound Interstate 780, then take north-bound Interstate 680 until it re-joins Interstate 80 in Cordelia.
CLOSURE 2: West-Bound I-80 to I-680
Affected times:
From Wednesday, April 7 at 11 p.m. to Thursday, April 8 at 4 a.m.
From Thursday, April 8 at 11 p.m. to Friday, April 9 at 4 a.m.
From Friday, April 9 at 11 p.m. to Saturday, April 10 at 4 a.m.
What’s happening: Road crews will be doing work on the west-bound Interstate 80 connector ramp to Interstate 680.
Local and Freeway Detour: Motorists who are driving along west-bound Interstate 80 will be forced to take south-bound Interstate 680 to west-bound Interstate 780 at Curtola Parkway, then re-join west-bound Interstate 80 in Vallejo.
During each closure, CalTrans says travelers should expect delays through the affected areas. Real-time traffic information is available on the CalTrans website by clicking or tapping here.
