A Rio Vista man was arrested last week after police said sustained child abuse led to the death of a two-year-old boy.
Last Monday, police were contacted by hospital employess after an injured infant was admitted to a medical center in Antioch. The infant had “suspicious injuries,” according to a police official.
The two-year-old boy was later transported to a children’s hospital in Oakland where he died from his injuries.
Officers in Rio Vista requested the assistance of the Solano County Sheriff’s Office. Police from both agencies reviewed surveillance footage, processed evidence and carried out a string of interviews that led them to Tre Kenneth Clay, the infant’s father, as the suspected abuser.
Following an autopsy on the infant, a search warrant was obtained for Clay’s arrest. He is being held at the Solano County jail on several felony charges related to child abuse and murder.
Anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to contact the Rio Vista Police Department at 707-784-7511.
