The National Weather Service office in Sacramento has upgraded a Fire Weather Watch scheduled for later this week to a Red Flag Warning.
The upgraded alert was issued Wednesday morning and covers Thursday from 11 a.m. to Friday at 8 p.m.
All of Solano County is affected by the Red Flag Warning, as are neighboring Yolo and Sacramento counties.
Forecasters say a combination of gusty wind, low humidity and dry conditions will elevate fire dangers in the region. New wildfires could start quickly and spread rapidly during the Red Flag Warning period. Outdoor burning is not recommended during the Red Flag Warning event.
On Monday, Solano NewsNet reported a fire weather alert was possible based on forecast models that indicated conditions favorable to wildfires. An article published last month said there was an increased chance of wildfires in May and June based on drought evaluations and forecast models published by the National Interagency Fire Center.
