Forecasters with the National Weather Service office in Sacramento have issued a Red Flag Warning for Solano County and other parts of the Sacramento Valley.
The warning period starts Saturday morning at 5 a.m. and lasts through Sunday evening, though officials could end the warning early or extend it based on weather conditions.
The alert covers fire weather zones 215 through 218 as mapped by the National Weather Service. Fire weather zones 217 and 218 cover all of Solano County. All of neighboring Yolo County is also covered by the weather alert, as are large portions of Sacramento County, including portions of Sacramento County that border Solano County.
Meteorologists say a combination of gusty wind, low humidity and dry conditions will elevate local fire danger. Any new wildfires that start could spread far and fast, weather officials warned.
Outdoor burning is not recommended during the Red Flag Warning, officials said.
The highest fire danger locally will be areas west of Interstate 505, including parts of Vacaville, Allendale and Winters, according to the alert bulletin published by the National Weather Service on Friday.
Minimum humidity readings are expected to be between 6 percent and 12 percent during the warning period. Wind could gust as high as 50 miles per hour, with the average sustained wind between 20 miles per hour and 30 miles per hour.
Overnight humidity readings will remain lower than average, and wind could still be a factor in the evening to early morning hours, forecasters said.
