A Fire Weather Watch that was issued for the Memorial Day holiday has been upgraded to a Red Flag Warning, weather forecasters said on Sunday.
The Red Flag Warning period begins Monday at 11 a.m. and lasts until Tuesday at 8 p.m.
Forecasters anticipate sustained wind between 15 miles per hour and 25 miles per hour, with strong gusts up to 35 miles per hour possible throughout Solano County.
A combination of dry weather and low humidity will add to elevated wildfire danger during the Memorial Day holiday and on Tuesday, forecasters warned.
Any fires that start during the Red Flag Warning period have the potential to spread far and fast.
Outdoor burning is not recommended, nor is lawn maintenance during the warning period. Several wildfires have sparked in Solano County this year that were attributed to burn piles and lawn maintenance tools.
