Red Flag warning extended until Saturday evening
Critical fire weather will remain in north Solano County until 7 p.m.
The National Weather Service in Sacramento has extended a Red Flag Warning through 7 p.m. Saturday.
The extended warning covers portions of Solano County north of Fairfield, including Vacaville, Dixon and rural North Solano, and extends into much of Yolo and Sacramento counties.
Forecasters say a mixture of strong wind up to 25 miles per hour at times combined with low humidity and seasonably warm temperatures will result in critical wildfire danger. Any fires that start during the Red Flag Warning are expected to spread dangerously fast, forecasters say.
A number of strong fires have started in Solano County since the Red Flag Warning was originally issued on Wednesday, including a two-alarm fire along Business Center Drive in Fairfield on Thursday, a two-alarm grass fire near Midway Road in Vacaville on Friday and a multi-alarm fire that broke out near a homeless encampment along Railroad Avenue in Fairfield late Friday evening.
