One of two Quick Quack Car Wash locations in Vacaville will host a memorial car wash fundraiser event to help raise money for the family of fallen Vacaville Police Officer Matthew Bowen.
In an email sent to customers and viewed by Solano NewsNet on Tuesday, a Quick Quack Car Wash spokesperson said the memorial car wash will be held on Wednesday, July 24 during normal business hours, with all proceeds from single car washes purchased that day donated to the Vacaville Police Foundation’s fund to assist Officer Bowen’s family.
The event will be held at the Quick Quack location at 5001 Walnut Road, the email said. That location is close to where Officer Bowen was conducting a traffic stop on July 11 when he was fatally struck by a vehicle that was allegedly driven by a 24-year-old Placer County woman, who was later charged with murder.
Bowen’s damaged motorcycle was in front of the car wash for several hours, as was a pickup truck that was abandoned when the driver stopped to assist Bowen after the crash. The road was closed throughout the day while the California Highway Patrol processed the scene.
“We send our condolences to Officer Bowen’s family and the Vacaville Police Department during this difficult time,” a Quick Quack Car Wash spokesperson said this week.
Quick Quack says members of the public who cannot purchase a wash but still want to help assist Officer Bowen’s family can donate directly to the Vacaville Police Foundation’s fundraising drive through the web.
In addition to the Walnut Drive car wash, Quick Quack Car Wash also operates a second location on Davis Street, as well as two locations in Dixon.
