A high-speed pursuit that started in Solano County wound through several communities before coming to an end just yards away from the State Capitol on Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The pursuit started around 2 a.m. with an investigation involving a Ford Mustang that was speeding along east-bound Interstate 80 in Vacaville. When CHP officers attempted to pull over the mustang, it fled from them and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit wound through several communities, including Woodland and South Sacramento, with speeds reaching 125 miles per hour at times, the CHP said.
The chase came to an end just feet away from the State Capitol when the car flipped on Jefferson Boulevard. An image shared by the CHP revealed the car likely struck several orange barricades erected around the State Capitol to block it off to vehicular traffic.

Two people inside the Mustang suffered minor injuries, and the brunt of the crash required them to be extracted from the vehicle. An unnamed male driver in his early 20s was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and for evading police.
No other information was released, and it was not clear if the driver would be prosecuted in Solano County or Sacramento County.
