Hundreds of people are without electrical service in Vallejo, according to information published by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) on Friday.
The outage occurred as rain showers moved through much of Solano County, bringing the area much-needed water — and a few headaches for those without power.
More than 3,000 customers were without power in southern Vallejo near the Carquinez Bridge, according to a PG&E outage map reviewed by Solano News Update. That number had been reduced to just 1,400 customers by 4 p.m.
The cause of the outage was not clear, and PG&E says it is assessing what happened.
Power outages were sporadic in other parts of Solano County, though not as widespread or as prolonged as the blackout in Vallejo.
The electrical service disruption occurred as Solano County experienced its first rainfall of the season, which was heavier at times than what weather forecasters had predicted.
Here’s the latest peak rainfall measurements for Solano County communities for the 24-hour period ending at 4 p.m.:
