The Fairfield Police Department has released the name of a 54-year-old man who died from a gunshot wound last week.
Police identified the shooting victim as Fairfield resident Anthony Fuimaono and said the incident was being treated as a criminal matter.
Solano NewsNet was the first to report on the shooting, which was the end result of an argument that happened at a home along the 300 block of Manzanita Way last Thursday.
Officers were initially dispatched to the 2600 block of Laurel Drive after residents there reported hearing several gunshots followed by a person screaming for help. Police later discovered shell casings in front of a home on nearby Manzanita Avenue.
A neighbor attempted to drive Fuimaono to a local hospital in their private vehicle after the shooting. The driver of the car was pulled over by Fairfield police, who called for an ambulance to respond to the scene.
Video captured Solano NewsNet freelance photographer Nicholas Wilson showed Fuimaono speaking with paramedics and complaining about his stomach before being loaded into an ambulance. Police dispatches confirmed he sustained at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Additional video provided by Wilson showed police detaining a person in front of the home where the shooting took place, while other officers cleared the inside of the residence.
It was not clear if the person who was detained is a suspect in the incident, nor was it known if the man was arrested by police.
The incident was the second shooting to happen in the city of Fairfield that day. Earlier in the evening, officers rushed to a neighborhood near Grange Middle School after a man was reportedly shot there.
A two-hour manhunt took place along Scott Street, where a suspect was discovered hiding in the backyard of a home. The suspect initially struggled with officers, but was subdued by a police K9 from Vacaville.
The unidentified suspect was taken to an area hospital to be treated for a dog bite wound.
