Police in Fairfield have launched a homicide investigation after a man was found deceased near a business early Wednesday morning.
Around 4 a.m., police and firefighters were dispatched to a dental office along the 1600 block of Travis Boulevard after a citizen reported finding a man’s body in some bushes.
The man was found bleeding from a severe cut to his throat, according to a source familiar with the matter. He has not been identified as of Wednesday afternoon, but police are treating the case as a homicide, the source said.
Officers have contacted nearby businesses for any surveillance footage that might have captured what happened to the person and how his body wound up at the scene, the source affirmed. So far, police have no leads in the case.
A spokesperson with the Fairfield Police Department has not yet returned an early afternoon inquiry sent by Solano NewsNet for more information. In a public alert sent through Nixle, police said the investigation into the incident was “ongoing, and no further details are releasable.”
Travis Boulevard was closed in the area for several hours during the Wednesday morning rush hour commute. Police were searching a car near the business where the man’s body was found, but it was not clear if the search was related to his death, KCRA-TV (Channel 3) in Sacramento reported.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to provide information to the Fairfield Police Department’s dispatch center by calling (707) 428-7300.
