Police dog shot in Vacaville, suspect arrested

A Vacaville Police Department K-9 was shot and injured during a standoff on Wednesday.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at a home along the 300 block of Regency Circle, near the intersection of Nut Tree Road and Ulatis Drive.
A source familiar with the incident said the standoff began after a resident inside the home called 9-1-1 and informed a dispatcher that they intended to shoot people.
The police K-9, named Murph, was shot while police were apprehending the suspect. He is being treated at a local animal hospital and is expected to survive the wound.
The suspect sustained a dog bite wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police continue to investigate at the home, which has been cordoned off with crime scene tape. Traffic is not affected through the area.
