The Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) says its helicopters will be flying low over portions of west Fairfield this week as part of an exercise.
The exercise is connected to the utility company’s planned power outage initiative, where the utility shuts off electrical power temporarily in order to prevent the start of wildfires during extreme weather conditions.
PG&E is not expected to shut off electrical service as part of the exercise, but the utility says residents and businesses in west Fairfield may see low-flying helicopters on Thursday and Friday.
The exercises will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., a spokesperson for the City of Fairfield said on Wednesday.
“These exercises help us analyze the area and terrain to better prepare for PSPS events,” the spokesperson said.
