The Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) has started shutting off electrical service in parts of rural Vacaville and Winters.
The utility warned customers in parts of rural Vacaville on Sunday that it would take proactive steps to shut off electrical service in order to prevent its equipment from starting wildfires in rural parts of the county.
On Tuesday, PG&E expanded the scope of its planned safety power shutoff (PSPS) event to include more than 1,000 customers in rural Vacaville, Fairfield, Suisun City and Winters.
Around 6 p.m., the utility company began shutting down electrical service in rural parts of Vacaville, mostly to homes and businesses that are within the burn scar of last year’s LNU Lightning Complex wildfire.
As of 7:30 p.m., 321 PG&E customers were without power in rural Vacaville. Affected customers include home and businesses to the east of the Napa County line, west of Pleasants Valley Road, north of Foothill Drive and south of Putah Creek road.
Another 28 customers were cut off from electrical power in the area of English Hills Road and Peaceful Glen Road in rural Vacaville, while another 20 customers were without power in unincorporated Yolo County north of Winters.
On the Napa County side, more than 800 customers are currently without electrical service along Highway 128 and along the perimeter around Lake Berryessa, according to PG&E’s online outage map.
