Elderly man dies after house fire in Fairfield

Fire investigators are probing the cause behind an early-morning structure fire that claimed that life of an elderly resident in Fairfield on Wednesday.
The fire started around 8:45 a.m. in the backyard of a home along the 300 block of Tulip Street.
A responding fire crew called for a second alarm after flames began spreading to the home itself. A body was located during a search of the home, according to fire dispatches.
Police and fire investigators were still working to confirm the identity of the victim as of Wednesday morning. The cause of the fire is also under investigation.
