Two high-speed chases that wound through Solano County kept California Highway Patrol and local police officers busy overnight.
The first pursuit was reported Tuesday evening around 10 p.m. when officers tried to pull over the driver of a 2019 Nissan sports car for an unknown offense.
Rather than pull over, the driver took off, leading police on a high-speed chase that wound through parts of rural Solano County, Vacaville and Fairfield for more than an hour.
At one point, CHP officers called off the pursuit when the suspect drove by a road improvement project in Vacaville. The chase picked up again in Fairfield, with CHP officers joined by Solano Sheriff’s deputies and local police.
The suspect drove over a pair of spike strips, disabling at least one tire and leading him to eventually stop on Highway 12 in Fairfield. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.
Several hours later, police in the Sacramento area tried to pull over a vehicle that was believed to be connected with an attempted burglary at a marijuana dispensary.
Once again, the driver took off, leading police on another high-speed chase, with speeds reaching over 120 miles per hour.
That pursuit ended when the suspect exited the freeway in Fairfield, with police taking him into custody near the intersection of Manuel Campos Parkway and Lyon Road.
The identities of the chase suspects was not known as of Wednesday afternoon.
