One injured after pursuit escalates to shooting in Fairfield

One person was taken to the hospital after an officer-involved shooting in Fairfield on Monday.
The shooting happened just before 2:30 p.m. along Central Way near Commerce Court.
Preliminary information learned by Solano NewsNet indicates officers were attempting to serve a warrant on a person when that person took off in a car. A short pursuit took place, with the chase ending in the parking lot of a business.
A police officer involved in the chase spotted a firearm and shot several times, striking the person at least once. The person, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Several firearms, including a loaded gun, were recovered from the vehicle, according to a person familiar with the incident.
The parking lot was taped off as of 5 p.m. and the incident is still under investigation.
