Police in Vallejo have arrested a person in connection with an early-morning fire at a food business in the city.
The two-alarm fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. along the 600 block of Marin Street. When firefighters arrived, they located a significant blaze inside Anchor Pantry, a gourmet food retailer.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to just the front of the store, but the blaze caused significant damage, and investors say the store will have to undergo extensive remodeling before it can re-open.
In a social media post on Tuesday, the owner of Anchor Pantry said the business was insured, but added it will take some time before the store can re-open.
“An arsonist tried to steal my dream last night,” the business owner said. “He was caught and arrested — a little comfort, but it won’t bring the store back.”
The fire department said one person was arrested by police in connection with the blaze. Their identity was not known as of Tuesday morning.
