After two consecutive days of freeze warnings in Solano County, Mother Nature is giving the area a slight reprieve.
The National Weather Service’s office in Sacramento had not issued a freeze or frost warning for any areas of Solano County as of 9 p.m. Tuesday, though forecasts are still calling for seasonably cold weather starting Tuesday evening and lasting through early Wednesday morning.
Temperatures in the mid- to upper-30s are expected throughout Solano County, with lower temperatures expected in south Solano County toward the Carquinez Strait.
Portions of neighboring Napa County, which are serviced by the weather agency’s San Francisco office, are under a Frost Advisory starting Wednesday morning at 3 a.m. until 9 a.m. Among the cities included in the advisory are Napa, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Rohnert Park and Novato.
Back home, weather forecasters say seasonably cold weather is expected to linger through the rest of the week, with average temperatures ranging 3 to 8 degrees below normal for this time of the year. Meteorologists say those living in areas with cold weather should take care of plants, pets and outdoor pipes just as they would if there was a freeze or frost warning.
There remains a chance of rain showers starting late Friday evening, though forecasters say computer models have been inconsistent on where and when those showers might develop. Solano County is likely to experience less than a quarter of an inch of rain over the weekend if any showers come through, the National Weather Service said.
The same won’t be true in the Sierra where forecasters are predicting a significant amount of snow that will likely result in the closure of several mountain passes throughout the weekend.
