No fireworks show in Suisun City this year, police say
The announcement was made after a local newspaper article erroneously said there would be a fireworks show.

The Suisun City Police Department issued a notice to the public on Friday warning that the annual fireworks display at the city’s marina would not be taking place this year.
The notice came after the Daily Republic newspaper erroneously reported that the fireworks show would be part of an Independence Day festival at Marina Court. The incorrect information appeared in an article on the newspaper’s front page and was present in a web version of the same article on the Daily Republic’s website (the newspaper eventually removed the reference Friday afternoon, but did not append a correction to the story).
“Suisun City is not hosting a Fourth of July celebration as reported by some news outlets,” the Suisun City Police Department said in a tweet. “Suisun City Fire Department and members of [the] Suisun City Council will be participating in [the] Fairfield Downtown Association's Parade, but there will be no fireworks show this year in Suisun City.”
Fireworks are largely prohibited throughout Solano County, with officials recently reminding individuals in Vacaville, Fairfield, Benicia and Vallejo that all types of fireworks are illegal in those cities.
The same goes for rural areas of Solano County, where fireworks of all kinds are prohibited.
Safe-and-sane fireworks are allowed in just three Solano County communities, with Suisun City among the areas that permit these types of fireworks. Dixon and Rio Vista also allow safe-and-sane fireworks.
A limited number of fireworks shows are taking place in and around Solano County this weekend, including a fireworks presentation in Winters on Saturday and a dusk fireworks show at Andrew’s Park in Vacaville on Sunday.
Editor’s note: This story has been updated from a previous version, including one sent to e-mail members, after the Daily Republic deleted a reference to a Suisun City fireworks show in a web article that triggered a public notice from Suisun City police.
