The Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District has issued a “Don’t Light Tonight” advisory for all of Yolo County and portions of north Solano County through the end of Saturday.
The advisory is issued when the agency evaluates weather forecasts and projects that particulates emitted from the burning of wood in fireplaces and elsewhere will have an adverse impact on air quality.
“Please do not burn wood during this advisory as the smoke will not disperse and will impact air quality in your neighborhood,” the agency wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The “Don’t Light Tonight” advisory began Friday morning at midnight and lasts until Sunday morning at midnight.
All of Yolo County is covered under the warning as well as Dixon, Vacaville and Rio Vista and rural areas around those Solano County cities.
The Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District offers free e-mail, phone call and text message alerts for those interested in following “Don’t Light Tonight” advisories. To sign up, visit the agency’s website at www.ysaqmd.org.
