Solano sheriff appeals for help in locating missing woman
Police say she was involved in a car crash near Dixon on Monday.
[Update: Shortly after this story was published, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office said Anderson was safely located.]
The Solano County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a college student from Santa Barbara who went missing earlier this week.
Jikara Anderson, 21, is believed to have been involved in a car crash early Monday morning along Interstate 80 near Dixon. She left her belongings, including her cell phone and purse, behind in the car, according to a report by KXTV (Channel 10).
Sheriff’s officials say the woman was seen early the next morning at a Safeway grocery store in Vallejo. She has no known connections to Solano County; her family and friends live elsewhere, and it’s not clear why she was in the area.
The Sheriff’s Office said Anderson may suffer from a mental health condition. She is described as standing 5-feet, 6-inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds with reddish-orange braids. She was last seen wearing a checkered black-and-white jacket. The agency says they’re not sure if she’s still in the area or if she’s traveling somewhere else.
“Anderson is a student at U.C. Santa Barbara; her sudden disappearance is unexpected and out of character,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Her family and friends are very worried about their loved one and are asking for the public to reach out with any information. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may know of Anderson’s whereabouts to contact them at 707-421-7090.
