A man who was fatally struck by a freight train in Suisun City last week has been identified as a young Vacaville resident.
Gustavo Ibarra, 23, of Vacaville was hit and killed by the train near the railroad crossing at Sunset Avenue on Friday.
A source familiar with the incident said Ibarra was walking toward the train when it struck him. His body was thrown from the tracks and came to rest in a field behind an apartment complex, where a responding fire crew found him.
The train came to a full stop on the tracks, which caused a significant traffic disruption throughout much of Friday afternoon. The track was finally cleared around 5:45 p.m.
A friend of Ibarra's family said funeral arrangements are being made for the young man.
