A driver died from injuries sustained in a solo vehicle crash over the weekend, the California Highway Patrol announced on Monday.
The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday along west-bound Interstate 80 between the Highway 113 interchange and Kidwell Road.
The driver of a 1988 Chevrolet Tahoe lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The truck overturned and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected, the CHP said.
The driver was taken to an area trauma center where he died from his injuries. He was later identified as Freddie Martinez, 45, of Sacramento.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and the CHP is asking for anyone with information to contact them at 1-800-835-5247 or 1-707-428-2100.
