A pipeline leak has forced the closure of a stretch of Lake Herman Road in Benicia, according to local officials there.
On Friday, operators at the Benicia Water Treatment Plant noticed a leak in a pipeline running near Lake Herman Road.
Public works officials took immediate measures to ensure “continued quality water provisions to Benicia residents and businesses,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
The leak is expected to take anywhere from 10 to 14 days to repair, public works officials said.
In the meantime, Lake Herman Road will be closed between Northgate Church (2201 Lake Herman Road) to Reservoir Road until the leak is fixed. Motorists are asked to use Reservoir Road as a detour until they reach East 2nd Street.
Those with questions or comments about the closure are asked to contact William Tarbox, Benicia’s public works director, at wtarbox@ci.benicia.ca.us.
