The layoffs were first revealed in a note sent to union workers on Friday.

Kaiser Permanente will lay off around 200 workers across its vast network of Northern California facilities, a move that will impact some hospital staffers at one of Kaiser’s hospitals in Solano County.
The announcement was made in a note sent to workers affiliated with the union United Healthcare Workers West.
The majority of the layoffs appeared to be in administrative sectors of the hospital, though the union noted vocational nurses and patient care technicians would be affected by the staff reductions, among others.
The union released a list of more than a dozen Kaiser Permanente campuses that will be impacted by the layoffs, including Kaiser’s hospital in Vallejo.
On Friday, a Kaiser Permanente spokesperson told a local newspaper that the move was intended to reduce duplicate positions.
The move comes after Kaiser Permanente reported a net income of more than $6.4 billion last year. The influx of cash was partially connected to the ongoing coronavirus health pandemic, during which Kaiser’s hospitals saw an influx of patients to the point where intensive care unit beds ran dangerously low.
The United Healthcare Workers West said it would work with Kaiser Permanente to re-train some workers affected by the layoffs with the hope that they would be placed in other positions within the company.
