The KUIC Morning Show will continue on with its two long-time hosts for just a bit longer.
On Friday, KUIC (95.3 FM) management confirmed to Solano NewsNet that its popular local morning show host John Young will remain at the station.
The agreement comes after Young announced earlier this week that he would leave the station after more than 20 years to pursue community-based opportunities in his home area of Placer County.
But an outpouring of support from the Solano County community and further discussions with management convinced Young to stay at KUIC for the foreseeable future, according to a station executive familiar with the decision.
In a social media message on Friday, Young confirmed his intention to stay with the station.
Young, who is also a licensed therapist, started his broadcast career at a Sacramento radio station in the late1990s. He was recruited to KUIC in 1999, where he has served in various on-air roles, most recently as the host of the KUIC Morning Show. The show’s other co-host, Ron Brown, has worked at KUIC since 1978.
In addition to his radio work, Young co-hosts the globally-distributed “Planet LP” podcast, which is available to stream or download for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other popular podcast services.
