A widespread internet outage at the Solano County Office of Education impacted remote schooling throughout the county on Tuesday, according to a note sent to parents and obtained by Solano NewsNet.
The issue at the Office of Education impacted internet connections at some affiliated school districts, making it difficult for teachers at those schools to log on to Zoom sessions.
Vacaville schools were among those impacted, and a note sent to parents said children should be patient when trying to connect to online classes through Zoom.
Officials said the issue had been resolved by late Tuesday morning. The cause of the internet outage was not immediately clear.
The outage happened one day after Governor Gavin Newsom outlined a new state-wide plan to re-open schools for in-person instruction.
Under the plan, schools would be eligible for $2 billion in grants if they agree to allow in-person education for students who are in transitional kindergarten (TK) through second grade by the end oft the month.
Once a county moves into the “red” tier, schools would remain eligible for the grant money if they allow all elementary school students and students in at least one grade of middle and high school each to attend classes in person.
Schools would be eligible for the grant money if they move to a model of hybrid learning that allows in-person instruction for a portion of the week, with the remainder of classes attended remotely.
