The Solano County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation into the discovery of human remains found in a rural, unincorporated part of the county on Wednesday.
The remains were discovered by employees with the California Waterfowl Association while they were conducting a routine vegetation evaluation along Grizzly Island Road.
The employees discovered a human bone sticking out of a piece of clothing that was overrun with vegetative growth, according to the sheriff’s department. The workers contacted deputies, who found a partial, decomposed skeleton just under the ground’s surface.
Detectives are now trying to figure out how the person ended up in the area and whether they were the victim of a crime. Anyone with information about the matter is asked to contact the Solano County Sheriff’s Office at 707-784-7050.
