The first rain of the season delivered a decent amount of moisture to Solano County on Friday.
Rio Vista emerged as the big winner of the precipitation lottery, with outlying areas of the city receiving more than two-thirds of an inch of rain in the 24 hour period ending at 11 p.m.
Elsewhere, showers were light to moderate, with most of north Solano County receiving between one-tenth of an inch to one-third of an inch of rain.
Here’s a look at the total precipitation for Solano County from Thursday at 11 p.m. to Friday at 11 p.m.:
Benicia: 0.01 inch
Dixon: 0.04 inch
Fairfield: 0.34 inch
Suisun City: 0.13 inch
Rio Vista: 0.64 inch
Vacaville: 0.17 inch
Vallejo: 0.01 inch
The heaviest rain in Northern California was in the Eureka area, as expected, where more than an inch of rain fell in the higher elevations. Coastal areas received a moderate 0.25 inch to 1 inch of rain.
A line of heavy showers that turned into snow was also seen in western portions of the state between Chico and Roseville, including the area north of the Eldorado National Forest, according to a weather map reviewed by Solano News Update on Friday.
Forecasters say rain, mountain snow and breezy wind will decrease in the overnight hours. Dry conditions will come back to Solano County and much of Northern California for the rest of the weekend. Clouds may be present Saturday morning but will clear out as the day progresses.
Another precipitation system could cross through the area on Tuesday, though forecasters say various weather computer models disagree on the timing and strength of those rain storms.
