Tuesday will be the first day of triple-digit temperatures across much of Solano County, with the thermometer crossing the 100-degree mark in several cities.
Breezy wind and low humidity will trigger elevated fire concerns throughout the Sacramento Valley, and a Red Flag Warning remains in place over wildfire risks until Wednesday morning.
Here are the anticipated high temperatures for Solano County communities on Tuesday, according to AccuWeather:
Benicia: 95°F
Dixon: 100°F
Fairfield: 100°F
Rio Vista: 101°F
Suisun City: 100°F
Vacaville: 101°F
Vallejo: 90°F
Benicia and Vallejo, typically the cooler destinations in Solano County, will be warm destinations in their own right on Tuesday, with temperatures expected to top out in the low- to mid-90s.
Vacaville will be Solano County’s hotspot this week, with a high temperature of 101°F on Tuesday and 100°F on Wednesday. It is the only Solano County community currently forecasted to hit triple-digits two days in a row, with other locales seeing a slight cooldown to the upper-90s by the middle of the week.
Several Solano County Library branches will serve as cooling centers. They are open to the public during normal business hours.
A Red Flag Warning that started Monday afternoon remains in place through Wednesday morning. Forecasters say a combination of gusty wind, low humidity and dry conditions will create dangerous fire weather conditions.
Outdoor burning is not recommended (and is, in fact, banned in some parts of Solano County already). Lawn maintenance is also strongly discouraged; Solano County’s largest wildfire of the year was reportedly started by a weed-trimming tool.
In Fairfield, city officials took proactive steps to close some parks and open spaces over increased fire concerns. The parks will remain closed until Wednesday at the earliest.
A cooldown will bring temperatures in the mid-80s across Solano County by Thursday.
