High-speed pursuit winds through Solano County
A high-speed pursuit wound through several Northern California communities early Wednesday morning, including most of Solano County.
Around 4:30 a.m., police in Sacramento attempted to pull over the driver of a Dodge Ram pick-up truck that was towing a trailer. At some point, the driver took off, leading police on a chase along Interstate 80 that wound its way from the capital city all the way to the San Francisco Bay.
About 15 minutes after the chase began, the pursuit entered Solano County where CHP officers were assisted by local police. A K-9 unit from the Fairfield Police Department was dispatched to assist with the case.
At one point, CHP officers had to back off the chase after the driver struck a box truck near Abernathy Road, according to dispatches reviewed by Solano News Update.
The pursuit continued through Vallejo and into Contra Costa County, with the driver hitting speeds in excess of 115 miles per hour at times.
The pursuit ended around 5:30 a.m. near Oakland with the driver taken into custody. The CHP later learned the truck used in the pursuit was reported stolen out of Sparks, Nevada.
