The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Thursday based on a forecast that calls for the temperature to cross the century mark.
In a bulletin issued early Thursday morning, the weather agency said high temperatures are expected to fall between 100 and 105 around the Carquinez Strait and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
Weather forecasters said the heat could impact sensitive groups like children, senior citizens and those with complex medical conditions.
"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors," the weather agency said in its bulletin. "Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location."
These are the high temperature forecasts for select Solano County cities according to AccuWeather:
Benicia: 97 degrees F
Dixon: 103 degrees F
Fairfield: 102 degrees F
Rio Vista: 103 degrees F
Suisun City: 102 degrees F
Vacaville: 104 degrees F
Vallejo: 97 degrees F
In a late-night interview on Wednesday, National Weather Service meteorologist Robert Baruffaldi said unseasonably warm weather is expected to linger through Saturday before cooling down by Sunday.
