Several grass fires are keeping Rio Vista firefighters busy and causing traffic nightmares throughout the city.
Around 5 p.m., the Rio Vista Fire Department said firefighters and mutual aid partners were battling several wind-whipped grass fires along south-bound Highway 160 near the city.
The fires are causing significant backups along that freeway and Highway 12 as well as the interconnected Rio Vista Bridge, traffic officials say.
The bridge itself is open, but traffic is moving along just one lane. Authorities are providing traffic control on the bridge, CalTrans said.
