Grass fire re-ignites near airport in Vacaville
(Video by Matthew Keys/Solano NewsNet)
Firefighters in Vacaville worked quickly to contain a grass fire that broke out near the airport on Sunday.
The fire started around 5 p.m. in a grassy field near the Lowe’s Home Improvement store on E. Monte Vista Avenue.
Vacaville firefighters were assisted by a crew from CAL FIRE who happened to be near the airport when the fire broke out.
The fire was contained within an hour. No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.
The blaze appeared to be a re-ignition of a fire that broke out several weeks ago, one that has flared up several times since then, according to fire dispatches.
The cause of Sunday’s fire remains under investigation.
