California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday re-appointed a Winters resident to serve in a key role with the state’s veterans affairs office.
Keith Boylan, 50, will continue on as the Deputy Secretary for Veterans Services at the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), according to a news release issued by the Governor’s Office.
Boylan was appointed to the position by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2013. He has worked in state government since 2012, the Governor’s Office said.
Prior to his government career, Boylan operated Boylan Window Fashions from 2004 to 2008 after leaving the U.S. Army where he was a tactical fire specialist.
As CalVet’s deputy secretary, Boylan is taked with ensuring the state’s 1.8 million military veterans have access to key benefits, including their pension claims, G.I. Bill education benefits and housing.
