Tuesday is the first official day of summer, and Solano County will celebrate in style with a Heat Advisory issued by forecasters at the National Weather Service.
The Heat Advisory begins Tuesday morning and lasts through Wednesday evening. The advisory covers all of Solano County, including the coastal towns of Benicia and Vallejo.
Triple-digit weather is expected everywhere in Solano County on Tuesday, according to forecasts published by AccuWeather. The thermometer will ease a bit on Wednesday, but not by much.
Here are the high temperatures expected for Tuesday according to AccuWeather:
Benicia: 102°F
Dixon: 105°F
Fairfield: 105°F
Rio Vista: 105°F
Suisun City: 105°F
Vacaville: 105°F
Vallejo: 100°F
Wednesday will continue to see seasonably hot weather, with temperatures over 100 degrees in most places except Vallejo, Benicia and Rio Vista. The heat lingers through Thursday until a slight cooldown crosses through the region for the weekend — but temperatures will still be in the mid-90s across most of Solano County.
Meteorologists say individuals should stay inside when possible during periods of extreme heat. Those who have to be outdoors should seek shade whenever possible and drink plenty of fluids.
No wildfire-related weather alerts have been issued as of Monday afternoon, but elevated heat always brings an increased danger of fires. Fireworks are illegal in most of Solano County, and fires that are ignited by fireworks have the potential to spread quickly and dangerously.
In several Solano County communities, local officials have raised fines related to illegal fireworks use, with some tickets costing as much as $1,000. Liability in some areas has also been broadened to include owners of properties where illegal fireworks are used.
Residents who witness illegal fireworks are asked to contact their local police department.
