Fire crews in Vacaville have doused a large grass fire that broke out near the city’s downtown district on Saturday.
The fire started around 3 p.m. in an empty lot along Catherine Street.
The blaze put out thick, brown smoke that could be seen for several miles.
No evacuations were issued, and no structures were threatened by the fire.
Crews remained on the scene Saturday evening as the investigation into what started the blaze continues.
The fire broke out during a Red Flag Warning when meteorologists warned that any wildfires that started would spread quickly due to wind, hot weather and low humidity.
The Red Flag Warning remains in place until Monday evening.
