Firefighters contain blaze burning along freeway near Fairfield

Firefighters have contained a vegetation fire that ignited along the freeway near Fairfield on Tuesday.
The fire started around 2 p.m. near the Interstate 80 connector to Interstate 680 just outside of Cordelia.
The blaze sent smoke drifting onto the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 and was visible from a CalTrans camera in the area.
Forward progress on the blaze was stopped around 2:30 p.m. The cause of the fire was not known as of Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were expected to remain on the scene in a mop-up phase to contain hotspots throughout the afternoon.
