A Fire Weather Watch that was expected to start on Sunday has been upgraded by weather forecasters to a Red Flag Warning.
The warning starts Sunday at 11 a.m. and lasts until Tuesday at 5 p.m., though forecasters could extend it based on weather conditions. The alert covers the majority of Solano County.
A combination of gusty wind, low humidity and dry conditions will make any fires that start up during the watch period spread rapidly, forecasters warned.
During the warning period, sustained wind between 15 miles per hour and 20 miles per hour is expected, with gusts reaching up to 40 miles per hour at times.
Humidity levels are expected to be between 9 and 18 percent, meteorologists said in a weather bulletin.
The forecast office said outdoor burning is not recommended during the watch period. On Friday, officials with the state’s firefighting agency CAL FIRE urged those who do burn outdoors to use caution after crews spent the last few days battling escaped “controlled burns” at residences in the region.
