Fire crews tackle 2-alarm blaze in Fairfield

A fire that started in the garage of a home quickly spread to nearby structures in Fairfield on Wednesday.
The fire was reported around 2:15 p.m. along the 700 block of Georgia Way.
A Fairfield patrol officer was the first to arrive on the scene and reported a fully-engulfed garage on fire.
Firefighters later discovered the blaze had spread to the interior attic of the home and a backyard structure at a neighboring residence.
A second alarm was struck, drawing firefighters from as far away as Vallejo to assist. One person was injured during the incident and was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. The extent of their injury was not known.
The fire was brought under control around 3 p.m. Fire investigators are now processing the scene to determine what started the blaze.
Three people and a dog were displaced in the fire, which caused more than $500,000 in structural damage, according to a fire official.
Firefighters from Benicia, Suisun City and Vacaville assisted in Fairfield, according to dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet.
