A driver for Federal Express is in jail this weekend after leading police on a pursuit that wound through portions of Fairfield on Friday.
The incident started earlier in the day in Vacaville when eyewitnesses reported seeing the FedEx driver strike several vehicles near the intersection of Alamo Drive and Merchant Street.
The driver was spotted entering the west-bound lanes of Interstate 80 shortly after the crash. Police in Vacaville notified their counterparts in Fairfield, who eventually located the truck.
Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver took off on them, leading police on a brief pursuit that came to an end in Cordelia.
The driver was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. He was taken to the Solano County jail on charges ranging from hit-and-run to evading police.
The truck was recovered and returned to the company.
