Two people suspected of robbing a pharmacy in Fairfield on Friday were arrested following a police pursuit involving Vacaville officers.
Around 8 p.m., officers in Fairfield were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy along Travis Boulevard after a report of a strong arm robbery. A clerk at the store said a person with a gun stole cash and drugs from the pharmacy before taking off in a black BMW sedan.
A Fairfield police officer processing the scene of the robbery said the suspects made off with around $5,000 in cash and an unknown quantity of pills.
About a half-hour later, a patrol officer in Vacaville spotted a sedan traveling around 100 miles per hour in the area of Weber Road just off Interstate 80. A pursuit started, with officers chasing the vehicle at a high rate of speed through rural parts of Vacaville and Fairfield.
During the chase, officers said the suspect tried numerous times to strike a patrol vehicle as it closed in. Two P.I.T. maneuvers were performed, with the second bringing the chase to a successful end, according to dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet.
Officers detained the driver and a passenger inside the vehicle. A search of the car turned up the money and drugs that were stolen from the pharmacy.
Authorities have Highway 113 blocked at Clark Road near where the pursuit ended, and traffic is stopped near the round-about with Highway 12.
