The Fairfied Police Department says it has arrested a person in connection with an assault and robbery of a local senior earlier this month.
On Tuesday, police said 30-year-old Omari Garland of Fairfield was arrested and booked into jail in connection with the July 7 assault and robbery.
The robbery was captured by a Ring doorbell camera, with footage of the incident widely circulated on social media and local television. Police say the 70-year-old victim was assaulted and his cellphone stolen by Garland.
Officers assigned to the case quickly identified Garland and entered his car information into Flock, a traffic surveillance system used by police throughout Solano County. That system triggered an alert when Garland’s car drove by a Flock camera this week, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Police said the case is still being investigated.
