The Fairfield Police Department asked for the public’s assistance on Friday in solving two sexual assault cases that appear to be related.
A police spokesperson said the first incident occurred on Monday, October 5 in the area of Hillborn Road and Garden Meadow. A victim told police they were assaulted by a black man in his 20s who was 5-feet, 8-inches tall, approximately 150 pounds and wearing a white T-shirt with green writing on it.
"The victim remained alert and tried to keep a distance as the suspect displayed suspicious behavior," a Fairfield police department official said. "After running past the victim twice he pretended to be on his cell phone while taking a knee, then began running again. As the suspect passed the victim a third time, he reached out and slapped the victim on the buttocks and continued running."
The agency is attempting to see if that incident is connected to a second reported assault that occurred on Friday. According to police, a person was grabbed on the buttocks by a person who was described as a black man in his 20s wearing a gray sweat shirt.
"The Fairfield Police Department would like to remind our community as we investigate this crime to please pay attention to your surroundings," a spokesperson said in a press release.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department at 707-428-7300 and select option 8 when prompted. If reporting a crime in progress, contact the agency at 707-428-7373.
